Job summary

UPMC Shadyside is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to join a growing team in Pittsburgh. The role includes sterile and nonsterile preparation, filling, distribution, and cross-training across departments within the UPMC Health System.

Applicants are placed on the Pharmacy Career Ladder based on experience and education. A $5,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment is available, with responsibilities spanning drug dispensing, compounding, and compliance with health regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required and one of the following: completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program; six months of pharmacy technician experience; six months as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System; enrollment in an undergraduate pharmacy program in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Operate pharmacy automation as part of drug dispensing and distribution.
• Fill medications with correct labeling, counting, stocking and proper dating.
• Prepare oral and injectable medications using aseptic technique.
• Maintain documentation and records for patient information and compliance.
• Distribute medications, manage inventory, and support pharmacists with triage and dispensing tasks.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program

Enrollment in an undergraduate pharmacy program and in good standing

Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience

Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System
