Job summary

Qualifications

• Active licensure with the Montana Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) in good standing; required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience as a hospital Pharmacy Technician with demonstrated competency in IV admixtures; required.
• Proficient working knowledge of aseptic technique for preparing sterile products.
• RQI Responder within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care; required.
• Proficient typing skills; required.
• Must have an understanding of medical terminology and calculations.
• Must have fluent knowledge of medication brand and generic names.
• Prior experience in Pharmacy Systems and Electronic Health Records preferred.
• Possess ability to learn other software as needed.

Responsibilities

• Understands and completes all aspects of medication distribution from the pharmacy to all areas assigned including inpatient and/or outpatient dispensing.
• Completes rounds according to current policy and coordinates with pharmacy staff for billing.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory: ordering, receiving, shelving, and communicates drug shortages.
• Manages medication delivery to nursing units using automated dispensing system and barcode scanning.
• Performs tasks related to IV additive service, sterile compounding, oncology medications as applicable.
• Maintains a clean, organized work environment and adheres to confidentiality requirements.
• Assists in staff development and training of Pharmacy Technicians.
