Job summary

Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA is seeking a part-time Certified Pharmacy Technician II for the Inpatient Pharmacy. The role involves preparing and dispensing medications, operating automated systems, inventory maintenance, QA audits, and delivering excellent customer service.

You will train staff under supervision, with required MA Board registration and national certification (PTCB or exCPT). Prior sterile compounding experience is preferred and a sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern with the MA Board of Pharmacy by the hire date (Pharmacy Interns are not required to hold CPhT certification).
• Must also have national certification from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam of Certified Pharmacy Techs (exCPT).
• Work requires 1-2 years pharmacy technician experience. Pharmacy students who have completed 2 years of education in an approved college/school of pharmacyare eligible for pharmacy internship,and may be waived for the required experience.
• Prior experience with sterile (IV) compounding is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparing product for use, including packaging, repacking, compounding, bar-coding, or any other manipulation.
• Performing medication preparation in accordance with law, regulation, accreditation standards, and hospital policy or procedure, including participating in a double check system for all preparation.
• Provides assistance with inventory control (receiving, stocking, replenishment) including: Receiving product (e.g. from wholesalers, direct shipments etc.) and stocking the product in accordance with laws and regulations for storage of product and in accordance with hospital policy.
• Communicates to pharmacists and/or pharmacy technician supervisor on malfunctioning equipment and unsafe working conditions
• Providing the highest level of customer service, including answering the telephone, greeting customers and guests in person and in any other interaction.
