Job summary

The Pharmacy Technician at Kennedy University Hospitals, Inc will assist in the preparation and filling of medications for inpatient and outpatient services, supporting the department's daily workflow and ensuring the availability of medications and tools for clinicians and patients.

Under supervision of staff pharmacists and the Pharmacy Manager, you will replenish Pyxis, handle IVs with aseptic techniques, assist in billing, inventory, and documentation, and maintain cleanliness and compliance

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 2 years of previous hospital pharmacy technician experience.
• 1 year of Sterile compounding experience.
• CPhT - Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Upon Hire.
• RPT - Registered Pharmacy Technician - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire.
• New Jersey pharmacy technicians must obtain and maintain current registration from the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy within 180 days of hire.
• All new hires must achieve Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification within 12 months of hire or provide evidence of successful completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Prepares drug orders from Physicians for review and dispensing by a Registered Pharmacist.
• Replenishes all Pyxis machines and monitors refrigerator temperatures with documentation of corrective action.
• Counts, compounds and repackages pharmaceuticals using established procedures.
• Dispenses and distributes medications to patient areas and restocks inventory.
• Performs billing/crediting functions to ensure proper medication billing and documentation of waste.
• Picks up Physician orders from team centers and assists Pharmacist as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of work areas.
• Uses aseptic techniques to prepare IVs and transports them to the nursing floor.
• Maintains competencies related to IV lab, Pyxis, McKesson Automation and CAPS.
• Reviews inspections and ensures proper storage and handling.
