Job summary

MedStar Harbor Hospital is hiring a Full Time Pharmacy Technician II for the Inpatient Pharmacy. The position is 40 hours per week with Day and Evening rotations, under pharmacist supervision.

The technician prepares, repackages, and restocks medications, including sterile and hazardous products, and supports automated dispensing systems. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, and Maryland licensure with PTCB/ExCPT certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved/accredited Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
• 6 to 12 months related pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Hospital environment experience preferred.
• Registered Maryland Pharmacy Technician required upon hire; PTCB/ExCPT certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in obtaining patient information for safe medication management under direct supervision.
• Refill and replace medications in automated dispensing machines; label medicines with expirations and warnings; inspect storage areas.
• Participate in evaluating the hospital's medication management system for risk points and safety improvements.
• Safely prepare all medications in ready-to-administer form, including hazardous and sterile products, using proper techniques.
• Assure selection and procurement align with formulary policies; manage non-formulary drugs and shortages per hospital procedures.
