Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an approved/accredited Pharmacy Technician training program is required.
• Current enrollment in a college of pharmacy program is preferred.
• One year of relevant education may substitute for one year of work experience.

Aufgaben

• Safely and accurately prepares all medications in ready-to-administer form using proper techniques and calculations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of formulary list and formulary process; follows policies on procurement of non-formulary meds.
• Stores controlled substances to prevent diversion; accounts for all meds per law; uses automation where applicable.
• Transports medication to patient care units and places in designated delivery locations within standards.
• Adheres to recommendations from regulatory groups regarding safe medication principles (LAS, look-alike, high-alert drugs).
• Assists pharmacists in obtaining patient-specific information for safe medication management.
• Ensures medications are properly stored throughout the hospital.
• IV Compounding: performs IV prep under sterile technique; packages meds and maintains logs; complies with state/federal/Joint Commission/USP rules.
• Other duties as assigned.
