Qualifications

• Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License.
• IV room compounding experience (hazardous and non-hazardous).
• Minimum of one year pharmacy experience, or ASHP approved technician vocational course, or student enrolled in University of Chicago.
• Ability to work as a team player and deliver quality patient care.
• Good communication skills with patients and staff.
• Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Transports medications and supplies to nursing units and clinics.
• Restocks Omnicell machines and returns discontinued meds.
• Triages calls and manages workload while prioritizing STAT orders.
• Prepares medications and supplies for dispensing under pharmacist supervision.
• Composes IV admixtures, chemotherapy, desensitization meds, and pediatric IVs.
• Completes annual technician competencies and complies with policies.
• Prepares outpatient prescriptions and performs cashiering as needed.
• Trains new pharmacists and technicians in the work areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the pharmacist or supervisor.
