Job summary

MedStar Southern Maryland is hiring a Full Time Pharmacy Technician II for a 40-hour week with day, mid, and evening rotations. The tech assists pharmacists, fills orders, restocks automated machines, and prepares sterile and non-sterile medications under supervision.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and licensed pharmacy technician credentials in Maryland; PTCB/ExCPT licenses are required upon hire. Hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved/accredited Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
• 6–12 months related pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Hospital environment experience preferred.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Maryland Board of Pharmacy required upon hire.
• National Pharmacy Technician license such as the PTCB or ExCPT required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in obtaining patient-specific information for safe medication management.
• Refill and replace medications in automated dispensing machines; restock and service these systems.
• Label medications with contents, expiration dates and warnings; inspect storage areas and recalled items.
• Participate in evaluating the medication management system to identify safety improvements.
• Safely prepare medications in ready-to-administer form, including hazardous and sterile products.
