Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in College Station, Texas is seeking a Pharmacy Technician 1. The role is supervised by a Pharmacist, provides pharmacy services, manages inventory, and delivers care per TSBP regulations.

The position involves stocking, labeling, dispensing, and assisting patients and medical staff under a pharmacist preceptor; requires HS diploma and <1 year experience. TX board licenses may be required.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of Pharmacy Care modalities, terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, terminology, drug use and aseptic techniques.
• Must be able to read, write and follow instructions and flow chart protocols.
• Excellent social skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff.
• General computer skills include using software applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.

Responsibilities

• Performs limited pharmacy services and duties associated with stocking, preparation, labeling, dispensing and delivery of medications.
• Helps patients and medical staff with nonjudgmental questions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist preceptor.
• Answers incoming phone calls and directs callers to the right person for service.
• Communicates promptly with team members when inventory is low; assists with drug purchasing and inventory control.
• Performs designated tasks concerning pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy records, and preparation of orders for drugs.
• Enter medication orders from doctors' sheets or prescriptions; fill according to label; ensure correct product, dosage, and formulary; enter billing data.
• Resolves discrepancies, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated dispensing machine.
• Cleans and maintains equipment and work area; sterilizes glassware.
