Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health, a leading Texas-based health system, seeks a Supervisor of Pharmacy Techs to oversee daily operations at an assigned site. The role plans, organizes, and trains non-pharmacist staff to ensure efficient service and compliance.

The supervisor will work closely with Pharmacists, Nurses, and other clinicians to deliver safe, cost-effective pharmaceutical care while driving staff development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: 3 years in a relevant role.
• Certification/Registration: Pharmacy Technician license with TX Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Supervises day-to-day activities to ensure efficient Pharmacy operations.
• Reinforces and monitors performance expectations.
• Ensures services are timely, accurate, effective, and cost-efficient; adheres to policies and regulations.
• Develops cooperative relationships with Pharmacists, Nurses and other medical staff.
• Initiates medication error reports and follows up promptly.
• Coordinates policies and procedures including staffing, training, and evaluations.
• Attends continuing education seminars.
• Communicates information to staff at required meetings.
• Trains staff and identifies development opportunities.
• May coordinate special projects.

Job Summary

The Supervisor of Pharmacy Techs manages daily operations at an assigned site. Plans, organizes, supervises, and helps with daily activities of non-pharmacist staff.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Supervises day-to-day activities to ensure efficient Pharmacy operations.
• Reinforces and monitors performance expectations.
• Ensures services are timely, accurate, effective, and cost-effective. Complies with established policies, procedures, and regulatory agencies.
• Develops cooperative working relationships with Pharmacists, Nurses and other Medical staff.
• Initiates medication error reports as necessary, provides input and follows up in a timely approach.
• Effectively coordinates and administers policies and procedures. This includes selection, orientation, training, assignment, staffing, evaluation, discipline, and discharging employees. All actions comply with applicable employment regulations.
• Regularly attends continuing education seminars provided by the department.
• Helps management in preparation and communication of information to staff at mandatory staff meetings and as necessary.
• Trains employees on their daily duties and coordinates staff education activities. Helps identify and provide opportunities for staff to develop necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• May coordinate and administer special projects as assigned.

Key Success Factors

• Experienced knowledge of Pharmacy Care modalities, terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, terminology, drug use and aseptic techniques, standards and equipment.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications.
• Must be able to read, write and follow instructions and flow chart protocols.
• Ability to sort, check, count and verify numbers.
• Ability to follow established safety, infection control, environmental and isolation practices and procedures at all times.
• Excellent social skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff.
• Ability to make tactical judgments on allocating and directing supervised employees' work using established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
• Ability to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
• General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
