Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia seeks a Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist - Acute Care to advance pediatric pharmacotherapy in a premier academic health system. The role emphasizes clinical excellence, medication safety, and interdisciplinary collaboration within a nationally recognized pediatric enterprise.

Day shifts core; you will participate in rounds, optimize dosing, and contribute across inpatient Hematology/Oncology, GI, General Pediatrics, and Ambulatory Infusion, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree required.
• Virginia license or eligibility for licensure in VA.
• PGY-1 residency required or equivalent hospital experience (3 years).
• PGY-2 residency preferred for specialty areas.
• AHA Health Care Provider CPR and BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert clinical pharmacy support across a 126-bed pediatric enterprise, primarily on the day shift.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds with real-time pharmacotherapy recommendations, dosing optimization, and monitoring.
• Rotate through Inpatient Hematology/Oncology, GI, General Pediatrics, Ambulatory Infusion Center, and electives.
• Provide weekend clinical coverage every fourth weekend, day and evening rotations.
• Evaluate complex cases to identify and resolve medication-related problems.
• Engage in order optimization in the EMR to enhance safety and efficiency.
• Advance patient safety initiatives and medication stewardship.
• Collaborate with medical teams to support transitions of care.
• Support education for residents, students, and trainees.
