Job summary

Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah in Shenandoah, Texas seeks a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced medical care to children and adolescents with complex medical, neurological, rehabilitative, and behavioral health needs. The NP will work with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to assess needs and promote continuity of care during hospitalization.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Nursing with NP certification preferred.
Current, unrestricted Texas RN license required.
Current, unrestricted Texas APRN license as NP required.
Current national NP certification.
BLS certification in good standing.

Responsibilities

Obtain medical histories and perform physical and neurological exams.
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions within NP scope.
Provide direct medical care to pediatric and adolescent patients with complex needs.
Order and interpret labs and diagnostics; initiate interventions.
Prescribe medications per Texas law and hospital policy.
Develop care plans and coordinate referrals with team.
Document status, plans, and progress in medical records.
Participate in rotating medical call coverage.
