Job summary

Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah is seeking an experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced medical care to children and adolescents with complex medical, neurological, rehabilitative, and behavioral health needs.

The NP will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess medical needs, manage acute and chronic conditions, and promote continuity of care throughout hospitalization. Strong pediatric assessment and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong pediatric assessment, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Ability to collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Experience caring for medically complex pediatric patients is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform complete physical and neurological examinations.
• Assess, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions within the NP scope.
• Provide direct medical care to pediatric and adolescent patients with complex needs.
• Order labs and diagnostic tests, interpret results, and initiate interventions as needed.
• Prescribe and administer medications in accordance with Texas law and hospital policy.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and behavioral health professionals.

Education

Master’s degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner

Master’s degree in Nursing with post-master’s NP certification
