University Health in San Antonio invites an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in an inpatient role. The APP collaborates with attending physicians, residents, nurses, pharmacists, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care for pediatric and AYA patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP/PA program (required).
• Current NP/PA licensure in state of practice.
• Board certification (PNP-AC/PC, FNP, or PA-C) or eligibility.
• DEA license (or eligibility).
• Pediatric hematology/oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed histories and physical examinations for pediatric/AYA hematology/oncology patients on admission and during hospitalization.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans with the care team.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions including oncologic emergencies and chemo toxicities.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including labs and imaging.
• Prescribe medications, chemotherapy (as credentialed), and blood products per protocols.
• Perform procedures such as lumbar puncture and bone marrow aspirate/biopsy.
• Provide patient and family education on diagnosis, treatment, side effects, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate care across inpatient and outpatient settings for continuity.
• Participate in rounds and interdisciplinary care planning.
• Respond to urgent clinical situations; document in EMR.
• Participate in quality improvement, research, and protocol development.
