University Health in San Antonio is recruiting an advanced practice provider (NP or PA) to join the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology for inpatient care of pediatric and AYA patients.

The APP will assess, diagnose, and manage complex hematology/oncology conditions, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and participate in rounds and teaching activities. Credentialing for chemotherapy and procedures may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking in complex pediatric populations.
• Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to family-centered care and effective communication with patients and families.

Responsabilités

• Perform detailed histories and physical examinations for pediatric and AYA hematology/oncology patients.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care with the team.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions including oncologic emergencies and treatment toxicities.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests.
• Prescribe medications, chemotherapy, blood products, and supportive therapies as credentialed.
• Perform credentialed procedures (e.g., lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy).
• Provide education on diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate care across inpatient and outpatient settings for safe transitions of care.
• Participate in rounds, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
