University Health Careers in San Antonio is seeking an advanced practice provider (NP or PA) to join the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology for inpatient care of pediatric and AYA patients.

The APP will collaborate with physicians, residents, nurses, and a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and manage complex malignancies and blood disorders, including treatment-related complications.

Competenze

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
• Current NP/PA licensure in the state of practice.
• Board certification (e.g., PNP-AC/PC, FNP, or PA-C) and DEA license (or eligibility).
• Pediatric or hematology/oncology experience preferred.

Mansioni

• Perform histories and physical exams for pediatric/AYA hematology-oncology inpatients.
• Develop and evaluate individualized plans of care with supervising physicians and the multidisciplinary team.
• Manage acute and chronic oncologic/hematologic conditions and treatment-related complications.
• Order, interpret, and act on laboratory, imaging, and pathology results.
• Prescribe medications, chemotherapy (as credentialed), blood products, and supportive therapies.
• Perform credentialed procedures (e.g., lumbar puncture, bone marrow aspirate/biopsy).
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate care across inpatient and outpatient settings for continuity and safe transitions.
• Participate in rounds and interdisciplinary care planning; engage in quality improvement and mentorship.
