Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct patient care and support nursing staff on an inpatient unit. You will assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility, specimen collection, and documentation in the EMR, while upholding medical asepsis and patient privacy.

The role involves collaboration with RNs, responding to emergencies, and participating in quality and safety initiatives to ensure a clean, safe patient environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred: Acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Preferred: Enrollment in ASN or BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Provide, obtain, or perform and document direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vitals, mobility, specimens, I&O, meals, height/weight, glucose testing, bladder scanning, transport, documentation in EMR).
• Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives (bedside shift report, hourly rounds, safety practices, cleanliness).
• Document vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimens, and report changes to nursing staff.
• Participate in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
