Job summary

UnityPoint Health is hiring a Patient Care Tech to assist with nursing duties in the Med/Surg Oncology RI unit. This role supports patient care under nurse direction and helps with hygiene, mobility, and monitoring per care plans.

No prior experience required; on-the-job training is provided, and successful candidates will join a team dedicated to patient safety, comfort, and compassionate care. Shift: 6:45pm–3:15am, two 8-hour shifts weekly.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Experience/ certifications as listed: CNA, EMT-B, or Medical Assistant or enrollment in related training.
• CPR certification required/maintained.
• On-the-job training provided to start in Patient Care Tech role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care under nurse direction.
• Deliver age-appropriate care following policies and regulations.
• Perform hygiene, nutrition, mobility support, vital signs, and specimen collection.
• Assist with non-invasive procedures including oxygen setup and simple dressings.
• Document care activities accurately and promptly.
• Maintain a safe, clean care environment and adhere to precautions.
• Communicate effectively with patients and care team; escalate concerns.
