Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an Oncology Inpatient Social Worker to join our cancer care collaboration with Dana-Farber. You will deliver psychosocial support, evaluations, and interventions within inpatient units, collaborating across disciplines to promote biopsychosocial care and smooth discharges.

The role requires an MSW, LICSW, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with dedication to patient- and family-centered care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work from an accredited school.
• At least one year of experience in a health/mental health setting.
• LICSW credential.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams.
• Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment in fast-paced settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical consultations, psychosocial evaluations, and interventions primarily in inpatient units and selected ambulatory settings, promptly, in compliance with departmental standards.
• Consult with/assist with complicated medical diagnoses, social issues, protective concerns, legal/ethical issues, and financial concerns; facilitate discharge processes impacted by social determinants of health.
• Educate other disciplines on barriers to engagement in care related to social determinants of health.
• Contact collateral agencies and family members to complete social work assessments as appropriate.
• Provide supportive therapy for patients and families relating to illness and/or hospitalization; offer end-of-life counseling and support.
• Guide patients/families through hospital services and community resources; assist with discharge planning and referrals when needed.
• May participate in training social work students and trainees.
