Job summary

Jefferson Health in New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support inpatient care and work closely with the primary nurse. The role includes observing patient behavior, assisting with care, and delivering one-on-one sessions when needed.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma plus college credits, with a preference for a BA/BS in behavioral health. BLS certification and PEAT training are required for safe patient handling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• At least 12 college credits; a full college degree preferred.
• BS or BA in behavioral health field preferred.
• One year of experience with behavioral health clients preferred.
• BLS through AHA required.
• Must be trained in PEAT and able to safely restrain an aggressively acting-out patient.

Responsibilities

• Assists the RN in delivering care, observing patient behaviors, and more.
• Reports and documents changes in patients' mood or behavior promptly.
• Provides one-on-one sessions with assigned patients as needed.
• Maintains a full patient caseload with an assigned primary nurse in an inpatient setting.
