Job summary

Regions Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join the inpatient mental health team. You will work with a collaborative care team including psychiatrists, PAs, nurses and social workers to provide compassionate care for adults with mental illness.

The role includes assisting with ADLs, monitoring restraints, collecting vitals and specimens, responding to calls, and documenting care in the electronic health record.

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-secondary education program in behavioral sciences or health care.
• At least 1 year of post-secondary studies in behavioral sciences or health care.
• At least 1 year of supervised experience delivering services to persons with mental illness.
• 1 year of similar related health care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs ADLs on a daily basis.
• Provides patient care treatments including restraint monitoring and data collection (vital signs, weights, input/output).
• Collects routine patient specimens (urine, stool, finger-stick glucose).
• Responds to call lights and assists nurses with procedures.
• Documents and charts care provided in the electronic health record.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Post-secondary education in behavioral sciences

Post-secondary education in behavioral sciences or health care (1 year)

1 year supervised experience with mental illness

1 year related health care experience
