Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Mental Health Technician to serve as a caregiver for a diverse patient population. You will work under RN direction, promoting satisfaction, comfort, and safety, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

The role involves floatability between units, direct and indirect patient care, and active participation in safety and quality initiatives, including documentation and patient observation as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Completion of one of the following programs or equivalent experience: CNA, Medical Assistant, PCT, or PCT Apprenticeship.
• Candidates pursuing higher education in social work, psychology, nursing or related field may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age-appropriate criteria and safety.
• Communicate with patients, nursing staff and health care team regarding status and care.
• Assist with patient admission, assessment, and procedures, and contribute to care plans.
• Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration and performance improvement activities.
• Ensure safety checks, monitor patient conditions, and document findings.

Education

PCT Apprenticeship Program or related nursing assistance program

Pursuing Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field
