Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Pasadena is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support nursing staff and provide compassionate care to adults and seniors with anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns. You will perform assigned patient care tasks, monitor vitals, assist with daily living activities and document observations for the clinical team.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, CNA certification or 6 months of direct patient care experience, and CPR

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with CNA certification or at least 6 months of direct patient care experience.
• Must read, write and follow verbal and written instructions; excellent communication; able to work with diverse populations.
• CPR certification and Oceans-approved behavioral de-escalation program required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies, procedures and Joint Commission standards.
• Use de-escalation and therapeutic interventions to manage patient behavior.
• Inventory patient belongings and perform unit safety checks.
• Perform vital signs, ADL assistance, intake/output documentation and nutritional monitoring.
• Document patient observations accurately and communicate findings to the nurse.
• Assist with mobility, meals, laundry and personal belongings; tailor care to age and cultural needs.
• Document departures from unit and ensure continuity of care.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
