Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Permian Basin is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support nursing staff and help maintain a therapeutic milieu for adults and seniors. The candidate should have a high school diploma (CNA certification preferred), strong communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; CNA certification preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with diverse populations.
• Must be in good physical and mental health and demonstrate empathy and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Support nursing staff and maintain therapeutic milieu.
• Perform patient care activities under supervision of licensed personnel; take vital signs and document findings.
• Assist with daily living activities and dietary needs; ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Document observations accurately in patient records and communicate with nursing staff.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and therapeutic interventions as required.
• Complete CPR certification and Oceans-approved behavioral de-escalation program.
