Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Katy is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to support the nursing team and sustain a therapeutic milieu for adults and seniors dealing with anxiety, depression and related conditions.

You will perform routine patient care tasks under the supervision of licensed nurses, monitor vital signs, assist with meals, bathing and mobility, and document observations to ensure safe, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required unless hired in certain states after Jan 1, 2026.
• Current CNA certification or at least 6 months of prior bedside, direct patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Continually monitors and enforces unit rules.
• Demonstrates de-escalation and therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Inventories patient belongings accurately; secures contraband; completes unit safety checks.
• Follows standard infection control policies and attends required in-services.
• Implements patient care activities under supervision of licensed nursing personnel; takes vital signs, weights, ADL, nutrition monitoring; reports findings to the nurse.
• Assists patients with laundry, meals, bathroom tasks, and mobility needs as needed.
