Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an inpatient coder to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and ICD-10-PCS procedures for hospital encounters. The role supports data quality and coding integrity across inpatient accounts.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of inpatient hospital coding experience and holds RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CIC certifications. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding guidelines is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of inpatient hospital coding experience.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CIC certifications preferred.
• Proficient in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient accounts.
• Abstract codes and related data into the network system per policy.
• Monitor work queues and address missing documentation to ensure accuracy.
• Provide information on problem accounts to Coding Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
