Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is expanding its Inpatient APP Cardiology Service Line, focusing on the inpatient Advanced Heart Failure Service with cross-training for the broader cardiology service. Night and day shifts, including weekends and holidays, are required.

The APP will manage patients with advanced heart failure, including those post-heart transplant or LVAD, with opportunities for professional development in a growing inpatient cardiology program and collaboration with specialists

Qualifications

• Graduate of a master’s degree or higher ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Master’s degree or higher in nursing with APRN scope and Texas Board of Nursing authorization.
• Current ACLS certification as required by UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing patient assessments based on age and diagnosis.
• Synthesize data and develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Order and interpret laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in procedures appropriate to inpatient cardiology.
• Provide management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients and families.
• Participate in quality initiatives and clinical research protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
