Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a Health Care Assistant to provide compassionate patient care under RN supervision on the Inpatient Medicine unit. You will perform quality care tasks, assist with activities of daily living, and support unit operations within a 0.8 FTE schedule.

Responsibilities include vital signs, patient transport, basic procedures after training, and accurate EHR entries. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and patient-family centered care in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry certification at hire.
• Completion of one semester of clinical rotation within an accredited nursing program.
• Enrollment in and/or completion of Hennepin Healthcare Nursing Assistant program.
• At least 6 months of acute nursing assistance experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, grooming and bathing.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and communicate needs to the team.
• Take and record vital signs as prescribed by RN or physician.
• Perform point of care tests as assigned.
• Document actions in the EHR and communicate changes to the nurse.
