Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare's Inpatient Medicine team is seeking a Health Care Assistant for a .8 FTE (64 hours per 2 week pay period). Workdays vary and include every other weekend with overnight shifts. The HCA collaborates with RNs to provide high-quality patient care and supports unit operations.

Under RN supervision, the HCA performs patient care activities, basic procedures, vital signs, and clerical tasks. This role requires compassionate teamwork and adherence to patient-centered standards.

Qualifications

• Current Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry certification (or enrollment in approved program)
• Completion of one nursing clinical rotation or enrollment in Hennepin Nursing Assistant program
• Experience with EPIC or similar EHR system preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, grooming, bathing)
• Respond to call lights promptly and relay needs to care team
• Take and document vital signs per protocol
• Perform point-of-care tests as assigned
• Maintain clean, stocked patient rooms and transport patients as needed
• Record actions in the EHR and handle clerical duties as required
