Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare seeks a Health Care Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant for Inpatient Medicine. The role provides direct patient care under RN supervision, performing daily living activities, vital signs, specimen collection, and EHR documentation in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include patient safety, rounding with RN, stocking supplies, coordinating unit communication, and assisting with ED/HHS standards. Shifts rotate Day and Evening; FTE .8 (64 hours per pay period).

Qualifications

• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.
• Completion of one semester of clinical rotation within an accredited nursing program.
• Enroll in and successful completion of the Hennepin Healthcare determined Nursing Assistant program.
• 6 months of acute nursing assistance experience

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, and bathing.
• Responds to patients call lights in a timely manner and communicates needs to the RN.
• Takes and records patient vital signs as prescribed by nursing protocol.
• Keeps patient room neat, clean and orderly; changes bed linens as scheduled.
• Records actions in the EHR and performs clerical duties as needed.
• Performs rounding in collaboration with the RN and assists with unit communication.
