Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our Inpatient GI Surgical Oncology team. This full-time APP will support patients undergoing major oncologic surgery and provide continuity throughout the hospitalization in collaboration with surgeons, residents, APPs, nursing, and multidisciplinary care teams.

The role focuses on postoperative management, monitoring for complications, nutrition, wound and drain care, discharge planning, and coordinating

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year surgical, surgical oncology, acute care, or inpatient experience preferred.
  • Experience managing postoperative patients and coordinating complex inpatient care is preferred.
  • Strong clinical communication and team collaboration in a multidisciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations per age/diagnosis.
  • Develop and evaluate care plans; order/interpret labs and imaging as needed.
  • Provide management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients and families.
  • Participate in quality initiatives and clinical research; apply best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
