Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our Inpatient GI Surgical Oncology team. This full-time APP will support patients undergoing major oncologic surgery and provide continuity throughout the hospitalization in collaboration with surgeons, residents, APPs, nursing, and multidisciplinary care teams.

Primary responsibilities include postoperative management, assessment of acute clinical changes, symptom management, nutrition, wound and drain care,

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of surgical, surgical oncology, acute care, or equivalent inpatient experience preferred.
• Experience managing postoperative patients and coordinating inpatient care is strongly preferred.
• Certification by NCCPA and state licensure required; prescriptive authority preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and document findings.
• Develop and adjust patient care plans with multidisciplinary teams.
• Order and interpret labs and imaging as appropriate to care.
• Provide patient and family education on care plans and preventive health.
• Support quality initiatives and research through evidence-based practices.
