Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Worker in the Geri Psych unit. duties include crisis intervention, assisting RNs with patient care, leading activity groups, and educating patients and families about treatment goals and milieu programming.

Eligible candidates should have a high school degree, CPR certification, and ideally 1 year of direct patient care experience. Schedule: 36 hours/week days, every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Direct patient care experience preferred (1 year).
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary psychiatric team.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation per policy.
• Support RN with physical care and hygiene needs.
• Lead/Co-lead therapeutic activities for patients.
• Educate patients and families on milieu programming and goals.
• Provide observations to Nurse Manager/Charge RN for treatment updates.
• Monitor patient progress and document treatment plans.
• Assist with safety checks, vitals, and orientation to unit.
• Identify discharge barriers and progress toward discharge.
• Record vitals, intake/output, and activities of daily living.
• Share observations with social workers and clinical team.
