Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Float Registered Nurse – Inpatient to deliver compassionate, high-quality care for acutely ill adults on a rotating schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, with every third weekend and rotating holidays.

Clinical experience and strong collaboration are essential. A BSN or ADN with commitment to BSN within three years, Illinois RN license, BLS, and excellent communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• BSN or ADN with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of starting employment.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Strong analytic abilities.
• Preferred: experience in inpatient Med/Surg nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to acutely ill patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation).
• Interact with patients and families while maintaining ANA standards of nursing practice.
• Collect data, develop individualized plans, coordinate care, and evaluate progress.
• Direct care and coordinate any nursing assistants involved in patient care.
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and staff to document and communicate care plans.
• Participate in governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Document patient responses to interventions in the health record and adjust plans as needed.
• Utilize evidence and research to guide practice decisions.
