Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician to cover Newton Wellesley Hospital and Hebrew Rehab. You will work under the supervision of an FMCNA RN to provide dialysis-related patient care in the acute setting, ensuring safety and quality care across multiple duties.

Responsibilities include monitoring vitals, assisting with vascular access, and setting up dialysis equipment. Travel between facilities is required; schedule includes 3-4 shifts per week with every other Saturday

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or its equivalent.
• Must have a valid PCT national certification or state specific certification as defined by CMS.
• All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required.
• 1–2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care under the supervision of the FMCNA RN in the acute setting.
• Promotes a safe, clean work environment and supports QEP/QAI activities.
• May set up and prime equipment for renal replacement therapies as directed.
• Welcomes patients and reports concerns to the FMCNA RN.
• Evaluates vascular access and monitors perfusion and vitals.
• Records vital signs, weight and treatment parameters timely.
• Performs cannulation and documents interventions as directed by the RN.
• Calculates and enters dialysis machine settings for UF, Na, and related models.
• Ensures safety alarms and NVL limits are properly configured.
• Discontinues dialysis per procedures and evaluates patient status at termination.
• Travels between facilities to provide patient care as needed.
