Job summary

DaMar Staffing seeks a Medical Coder 3 to join our health information management team in the United States. This role codes inpatient and ambulatory surgery cases, abstracts clinical data, and assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes according to established guidelines to support DRG determinations.

Candidates should have RHIT/RHIA credentials or ICD-10 coursework with 3–5+ years acute care coding experience; CCS can substitute for one year.

Qualifications

• Experience - RHIT/RHIA plus 5 years of acute care coding experience, or RHIT/RHIA with ICD-10 curriculum plus 3 years of acute care coding experience, or 7 years acute care coding experience; CCS substitutes for 1 year of acute care coding experience
• Education - High School or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Coding/Abstracting: Assists the Business Office and external agencies in clarification of coding regarding reimbursement issues. Handles all requests in a timely fashion.
• Quality/Performance: Corresponds with HIM department to ensure necessary components for accurate coding and high-quality records. Maintains accuracy and productivity standards; participates in data gathering and chart auditing.
• DRG Coding Confirm APC Assignment: Determines appropriate sequencing of diseases, diagnoses, and surgeries and assigns codes using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 guidelines.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
