Job summary

WakeMed Health & Hospitals is seeking a Coder I, Inpatient, to provide accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding for inpatient accounts under $15,000 and all outpatient accounts. You will stay current with coding guidelines and communicate with physicians and staff about documentation needs.

The role supports reimbursement integrity and statistical reporting, with eligibility for remote work from NC and additional states. Two years of inpatient coding experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proficient in ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS coding for inpatient and outpatient accounts.
• Current coding credentials or eligibility for certification is preferred.
• Strong communication with physicians and clinical staff on documentation.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient accounts with charges under $15,000 and outpatient accounts accurately.
• Maintain timely coding for reimbursement and statistics using ICD-10 guidelines.
• Collaborate with clinicians to resolve documentation and coding issues.
