Job summary

Essential duties include accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, creating physician queries, reviewing claims for medical necessity, and updating problem lists per contract. Requires AHIMA/AAPC certification and 2-year degree with CABG/Ortho/Med experience.

Qualifications

• 2 year degree or equivalent experience required.
• AHIMA or AAPC certification required.
• Experience coding CABG, Ortho, and Med cases required.
• Experience with 3M 360 Encoder HDM required.
• Meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards.
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient: Assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Create compliant physician queries.
• Review claims for medical necessity.
• Update problem lists per client contract.
• Assign present on admission indicators.
• Provide excellent customer service to clients and teammates.
• Floats between multiple sites and coding specialties.
