Job Summary and Qualifications

As a remote Inpatient Coding Specialist, you will review hospital inpatient records to assign, validate, and edit ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, performing coding and DRG validation across multiple entities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assigning, sequencing, validating, and editing codes and DRGs, including physician, discharge, and query tracking data.
  • Coding diagnosis and procedures with appropriate codes, including POA indicators.
  • Documenting admitting diagnosis and discharge disposition.
  • Completing coding portions of IRF-PAI when applicable.
  • Maintaining accuracy and productivity standards.
  • Utilizing complete medical records for coding and validation.
  • Initiating and reviewing physician queries per policy.
  • Performing CARS III duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT preferred.
  • At least 2 years of inpatient acute care coding experience.
  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
