Job Summary and Qualifications

As a remote Inpatient Coding Specialist, you will review hospital inpatient records to assign and validate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, perform coding and DRG validation across multiple entities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assigning, sequencing, validating, and editing codes/DRGs and abstracted data.
  • Coding diagnosis and procedure descriptions with appropriate codes, including POA indicators.
  • Completing coding portions of IRF-PAI where applicable.
  • Maintaining accuracy and productivity standards.
  • Using complete medical records and initiating physician queries when needed.
  • Performing duties as a Coding Account Resolution Specialist III as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT preferred.
  • At least 2 years of inpatient acute care hospital coding experience.
  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
