Job Summary and Qualifications

As a remote Inpatient Coding Specialist, you will review hospital inpatient records to assign, validate, and edit ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, perform coding and DRG validation across entities.

Responsibilities include:

• Assigning, sequencing, validating, and editing codes/DRGs based on documentation.
• Coding diagnosis and procedures with appropriate codes, including POA and surgeon info.
• Maintaining accuracy and productivity standards.
• Using complete medical records for coding and validation.
• Initiating and reviewing physician queries per policies.
• Performing CARS III duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT preferred.
• 2+ years of inpatient acute care coding required.
• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
