Job summary

Howard University Hospital seeks a licensed Clinical Staff Pharmacist to join the Inpatient Pharmacy team on a per diem basis. You will provide pharmaceutical care across all ages, review orders, and serve as a drug information resource within a Level 1 Trauma Center.

You will interpret orders for age and organ function, intervene when needed, monitor inventory, and participate in education and compliance activities within a teaching hospital environment.

Qualifications

• PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy or BS in Pharmacy accepted.
• Completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency.
• DC Pharmacist license or reciprocity eligibility.
• Expert knowledge of pharmaceutical practice and handling of pharmaceuticals.
• Attention to detail and ability to check pediatric/neonatal orders and doses.

Responsibilities

• Provide pharmaceutical care to patients of all ages and review medication orders.
• Interpret orders considering age, organ function and disease; intervene with physicians when needed.
• Serve as a drug information resource on availability, alternatives, cautions, and IV compatibility.
• Monitor and forecast inventory to support efficient operations.
• Document adverse drug events and educate staff on corrective actions.
• Ensure proper labeling, packaging and storage; monitor prepackaged meds.
• Support Director and Assistant Director with patient care, education, research and community service.
• Uphold compliance and HIPAA requirements.
