Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia seeks an experienced Charge Nurse to lead day-to-day operations, ensuring safe throughput and appropriate staffing in inpatient care areas. You will partner with management to address clinical and operational needs, document in labor systems, and support a collaborative care environment.

Responsibilities include facilitating team huddles, guiding policy adherence, and promoting patient experience through problem solving and service recovery,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or current enrollment in BSN/MSN program to be completed within 5 years of hire.
• RN Clinician 2+ with unit tenure or prior Charge Nurse experience from another unit/organization.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia; BLS certification.
• Standing for prolonged periods; ability to lift 20–50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations to support safe throughput and access to care.
• Ensure staffing according to patient needs and collaborate with leaders and staffing resources.
• Document accurately in labor management software for fiscal stewardship.
• Serve as a resource for team members and ensure adherence to policies and clinical resources.
• Facilitate a calm and productive working environment and support non-patient care activities.
