Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Charge Nurse to lead clinical and operational activities in inpatient care areas. The role partners with management to support throughputs, staffing, and safe patient access, while ensuring fiscal stewardship through accurate labor documentation.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN or is enrolled in a BSN/MSN program, with RN Clinician 2+ experience and a Virginia RN license with BLS designation.

Qualifications

• Education: BSN or enrolled in BSN/MSN program to be completed within 5 years of hire.
• Experience: RN Clinician 2 or higher with unit experience or prior Charge Nurse experience.
• Licensure: Virginia RN license and AHA BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Leads day-to-day operations to support safe throughput and access to care.
• Manages staffing according to patient needs and coordinates with leaders.
• Documents in labor management software for fiscal stewardship.
• Acts as a resource for team members and enforces policies and guidelines.
• Supports patient experience through team needs, rounding, service recovery, and problem solving.
• Facilitates huddles and visual management boards to promote communication.
• Ensures the environment complies with regulatory and safety standards.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
