This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work a shift between our normal business hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm PST with weekend rotation. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer 4 - 8 weeks of paid training. The hours of the training will be 8:00 am - 5:00 pm PST, Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

If you are located in PST, MST OR CST, you will have the flexibility to work remotely as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Provide exceptional service to our patients
  2. Arrange post discharge appointment within 7 day protocol
  3. Responsible for creating authorization within 7 day protocol and ensure proper patient detail is entered
  4. Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple duties on multiple software
  5. Identify work priorities while staying organized for prompt response in a timely manner
  6. Demonstrate behaviors and communication skills that show Optum's commitment to superior patient service, including quality, care, and concern with every internal and external patient
  7. Perform high-level critical thinking for redirecting phone calls, authorizations, and other issues that might arise
  8. Follow departmental processes and procedures
  9. Identify opportunities for process improvement
  10. Operate effectively in a self-sufficient virtual environment
  11. Meet and exceed productivity targets
  12. Use, protect, and disclose Optum patient protected health information only in accordance with HIPAA standards
  13. Be a team player
  14. Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • At least 1 year of experience in a customer service role in a healthcare setting (healthcare facility, doctor’s office, medical insurance company)
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and navigating multiple chat channels within Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm PST with weekend rotation, including occasional overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Over 1 year of call center experience
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
Telecommuting Requirements
  • Reside within PST, MST, or CST time zones
  • Ability to keep all sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Dedicated workspace separated from living areas that ensures privacy
  • High-speed internet connection approved by UnitedHealth Group or existing reliable service
  • Adherence to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy

The hourly pay range is $16.00 to $28.85, based on full-time employment, local labor markets, experience, and other factors. Benefits include comprehensive packages, incentive programs, stock purchase options, and 401k contributions, subject to eligibility.
