Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a Health Care Assistant for the Med Surg Ortho unit. Under RN supervision, you will perform quality patient care and assist with clerical duties, contributing to a patient-centered care environment.

Responsibilities include ADLs, vital signs, call-light response, and coordinating with the care team. A Minnesota CNA certification or similar progress in a nursing program is required, with weekend and overnight shifts possible.

Qualifications

• Current Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry certification required at hire.
• Completion of one semester of clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program.
• Enroll in and complete the Hennepin Healthcare Nursing Assistant program
• 6 months of acute nursing assistant experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, grooming, bathing).
• Take and record vital signs as prescribed by nursing protocol or physician order.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and communicate needs to the nursing team.
• Perform rounds and report changes to the RN.
• Maintain clean, stocked patient rooms and assist with transport.
• Document actions in the EHR and support unit communications.
