Job summary

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is seeking a Counselor II for the Va Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation. The role provides a full range of treatment services including individual and group therapy, assessments, treatment and discharge planning, and case management within a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology, with Virginia licensure preferred and readiness to work alternate schedules, including

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology is required.
• Licensure in Virginia as LCSW, professional counselor, or psychologist preferred.
• Experience with inpatient or residential mental health settings is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual therapy and group therapy to residents.
• Assess residents and contribute to treatment and discharge planning.
• Participate as a member of the treatment team and case management.
• Develop and follow treatment plans and monitor progress.
• Engage families and community agencies professionally.
