Job summary

Commonwealth of Virginia Careers in Virginia is seeking a Counselor II to provide comprehensive treatment services, including individual and group therapy, assessments, treatment planning, discharge planning, and case management as part of the treatment team. Candidates should hold a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology, with Virginia licensure strongly preferred.

Availability for alternate schedules (nights/evenings/weekends) is expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology required.
• Virginia licensure as LCSW, professional counselor, or psychologist strongly preferred.
• Experience with inpatient or residential mental health population preferred.
• Experience with forensic mental health population preferred.
• Ability to work alternate work schedules (nights, evenings, weekends, holidays).

Responsibilities

• Provide the full array of treatment services including individual and group therapy.
• Assess residents and participate in treatment planning and discharge planning.
• Engage in case management as part of the treatment team.
• Collaborate with clinical, professional, and administrative staff.
• Monitor overtime and roster management.
