Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Patient Access Inpatient Representative to support Revenue Cycle, Compliance and Patient Experience by handling inpatient registrations, insurance verification and bedside collections. This role interacts with hospital staff, ensures regulatory signatures, and guides patients to financial resources; flexibility with holidays and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree with one year working experience in healthcare, hospitality or related industry. Or two years in a patient-facing health care role.
Excellence in verbal and written communication, computing and multi-tasking skills.
Experience speaking with customers and handling stressed patients.
Strong PC experience and Microsoft Office; Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills required.

Responsibilities

Completes patient registration at inpatient bedside, including required demographics, regulatory information and signatures, and confirming insurance eligibility.
Reviews registrations for completeness and correctness and supports registration areas when needed.
Ensures compliance regulations are met (including securing consents and regulatory signatures).
Provides information on financial care counseling resources for self-pay patients.
Assists in audits of regulatory documents / signatures.
Must maneuver a workstation on wheels through patients’ rooms within the designated registration areas.
