Job summary

Nexus Water Group is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead SCADA design, cybersecurity, and operating improvements for water and wastewater systems in Charlotte, NC, with hybrid work options within North Carolina. The role emphasizes building standards, optimizing asset performance, and coordinating with IT and capital projects to deliver modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent field.
Minimum 3 years of work experience in an operational setting such as water/wastewater utilities.
Minimum 3 years implementing instrumentation and controls infrastructure.
Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Establish and enforce design standards, cybersecurity policies, and SOPs for SCADA systems.
Manage and maintain the SCADA environment for Carolina Water Service to meet service levels.
Maximize application adoption using root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with Operations to improve asset performance and optimize resources.
Develop long-term SCADA implementation plans across operating areas with cost/justification.
Work with IT to assist with cybersecurity for OT, and coordinate with capital projects teams on data collection.
